1. I think you made us watch this episode because it referred a lot to xenophobia. The girl thought that her new neighbor was a terrorist, mainly because he was middle eastern and acted quite weird. It later turned out that she had nothing to be afraid of. We can relate to this story in our society where xenophobia for other people is very usual.
2. I think it depends. For people on my and my classmates' age i think it is a good way. Many people that relates to such matters, maybe they have been bullied, raped or something like that probably don't want people to make jokes about such topics. Therefore i would say that you have to be careful when you make fun of serious matters, but if you do it right it can absolutely be a good thing.
